The Overlook neighborhood does just that. The park with the same name sits on a bluff in North Portland, overlooking the river, the bridges, downtown, and, of course, Mt. Hood. It’s homey and quiet, with wide, tree-lined streets tucked around Interstate Avenue. The neighbors have a quarterly get-to-know-each-other block parties and lovingly tended-to gardens. It feels precious and protected, but it’s connected and close to Downtown Portland and North Portland. Catch the Max and spot all the vintage Portland neon signs along Interstate!
