Buckman has been growing incredibly fast for a while now. The very walkable area around Buckman Middle School and the former Washington High School (now the effortlessly hip, a-full-night-out-in-one-building, Revolution Hall) make up the Buckman neighborhood. When people say, “Portland is changing,” this neighborhood is what they are talking about. The Goat Blocks used to refer to literal goats grazing in an empty lot. Now it refers to a series of new luxury apartments. But have no fear: if you want the, you can still find bunches of funky, small apartments and old 1900s houses. But now there are so many restaurants and bars and coffee shops close-by, you could never leave the area and be happy as a goat in the neighborhood.

"I love the combo of old and new here. Old businesses, new restaurants, old library, long term neighbors."
