The 5,155.75 acres of Forest Park are a temple to Portland’s fierce spirit. Developers have always wanted to cut down those trees, but they’ve consistently failed. And now the biggest park in the city limits in the United States sprawls along a ridge on the west side of Portland, a haven of hiking trails and trees. Houses in this neighborhood around the massive public park are spacious and sit on steep, winding roads. This neighborhood is the closest you’ll get to actually living in a forest, but in a nice house, and just a walk down the hill from the urban Alphabet District.
