Hosford-Abernethy is kind of nuts. Most of Southeast Portland is a grid, but things go a little haywire here. First of all, there’s Clinton Street, a bike corridor at times, a host for the train sometimes, and sometimes it’s actually 10th. Then there’s Ladd’s Addition, a square of streets that decide to all go diagonal from the grid and center around multiple central “roundabouts” that are little parks in their own right. It’s beautiful. It’s funky and full of rose gardens, stately houses, and grungy bars.

"Getting out in nature is relatively easy even within Portland city limits, with dozens of parks and greenway ped/bike paths... but these days it's probably fair to be aware that our houseless crisis is at a level we've never seen before, and a lot of homeless camps are nuzzled in these spaces. For safety, and respect, it may be a good idea to avoid being in these areas too early or too late, and probably never go alone."
