The old Hollywood Theater and its old-school vertical Hollywood sign are the grand centerpieces of the Hollywood District, but that’s not all it’s got. You’ve got Blue Fin Sushi and Trader Joe’s. You’ve got the Max and many buses. You’re a straight shot to downtown on one of Portland's rare diagonal Boulevards. If you go to the Hollywood Farmers Market before 10 in the morning, you can bring your doggos along to smell all the wonderful, fresh food (or creep on everybody else's doggos)! Old Portland establishments still reign supreme: dive bars and eclectic shops line the diagonal Sandy Boulevard.

"Getting out in nature is relatively easy even within Portland city limits, with dozens of parks and greenway ped/bike paths... but these days it's probably fair to be aware that our houseless crisis is at a level we've never seen before, and a lot of homeless camps are nuzzled in these spaces. For safety, and respect, it may be a good idea to avoid being in these areas too early or too late, and probably never go alone."
