“Beaumont” translates to “beautiful hill.” The hill, Alameda Ridge, is indeed a beautiful part of the Northeast Portland neighborhood, but so is the rest of it! Beaumont Elementary’s looming architecture, and the bustling shops of Beaumont Village (established in 1910!) are living reminders of its history as an old Portland neighborhood. It’s low-key and a bit far from the bustle of downtown, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. It has its own cute commercial centers, farmers markets, and an absolutely booming food scene going on. Tacos everywhere. Pizza and brunch to die for. There's even a restaurant with cuisine from Guam.
