With its humble working class history and homes, Kenton may have surprised some with its inclusion as a homebuyer hotspot. But this little neighborhood is a jewel of N Portland, and a self-contained microcosm of community involvement and pride. Kenton’s Street Fair grows bigger each year, headed by the mascot of Kenton’s giant Paul Bunyan statue. The tiny shopping strip on Denver Avenue is filled with darling boutiques, antique stores, and eateries, and progress appears to have occurred without significant displacement. Kenton is a “know your neighbors” neighborhood, and (I may be biased) it’s one of the best places to live and work in Portland.

Kenton can be described as
- Family-friendly. Close-in. Diverse.
"Getting out in nature is relatively easy even within Portland city limits, with dozens of parks and greenway ped/bike paths... but these days it's probably fair to be aware that our houseless crisis is at a level we've never seen before, and a lot of homeless camps are nuzzled in these spaces. For safety, and respect, it may be a good idea to avoid being in these areas too early or too late, and probably never go alone."
